Comparison of Prioritized Channel Allocation Policies in Cellular Radio Networks
Kun‐Nyeong Chang, Dongwoo Kim · 2002
Introduction In a cellularradi network, there are two types of calls: new calls and hando# calls. In general, the network gi espri+'L y to hando# calls by reservi# some channels for them, whi hi prioritizedch2 allocation. There are two classes ofpri33WC#AA channel allocati+ poli+SWC the cuto#pri#C5 y poliL (CPP) [2], [4] and the thresholdprisho y poli0 (TPP) [1]. In CPP, acertai number of channels, called guard channels, are reserved andexclusi elyassi=W3 to hando# calls, and theremai+WC channels, calledordidC5 channels, are shared by new calls and hando# calls. Thatia a new calli blocked i the number of free channelsi less than or equal to the number of guard channels, and a hando # calli blocked only when all channels are busy. In TPP, a hando# calli accepted whenever a free channel i avai=+0C as i CPP. However, a new calli accepted onlyi the number of new callsi progressi below a th esh value and a free channeli avaiALS'C Note that,i CPP, a new cal
