Visualizing a Social Network Service Using a Blob Algorithm
Park, Jae Wan · 한국디지털디자인협의회 conference · 2013
The widespread use of the Internet led to the creation of complex social networks, where the relationships between users extend beyond two individuals to multiple users through various links. However, the current visual representation of social network services has a typical form which consists of nodes, lines, and colors. The new method that visualizes the data of social network services is needed in order to improve the userrelationship in social network services. Thus, this research aims to propose a data visualization system for a playful exploration, effective search and intuitive navigation of social network services beyond simple node-link layouts. This study develops an animated, amorphous diagram-based visualization system using a blob algorithm, which supports the visual search and analysis, providing potential for fun, engaged social activities to users. As a result, we expect that this visualization system will contribute to the improvement of social network services.
