Timing Analysis of CAN-Based Automotive Communication Systems

Thomas Nolte, Hans Arne Hansson, Mikael Nolin, Sasikumar Punnekkat · 2017

The controller area network (CAN)1 is one of the major field bus technologies, used in many application domains requiring embedded communications. CAN is particularly important in the automotive domain since it provides predictable temporal (real-time) behavior on message frame transmissions. This chapter goes into detail, presenting CAN, its history, and its properties. The chapter also describes timing analysis of CAN frames.
