Hackers are criminals who will use the path of least resistance to deface and/or steal information. This chapter explains the type and strength of physical and network security measures, the composition and configuration of computers, network devices and Software. Hackers know that the goal of cybersecurity is to protect the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of information. They know that if computers are connected to the Internet, they have the potential to communicate with that device, gain control of it, and access information. They know that people are both the strongest and weakest links in cybersecurity program. Executives are responsible to plan for the future, and future includes the likelihood that a hacker, a hacktivist, an agent of a nation state, a disgruntled employee, or even a careless employee will cause organization to be the victim of a cybersecurity incident.
