The management modelling of access networks
A. Gillespie · 2002
The management of access networks raises questions about the traditional approach to the creation of management models because access networks are geographically dispersed and may be implemented using a number of other TMN network elements, and because their Q-interface may be remote from their traffic or service interfaces. The related problems can be solved by using a model based on a two dimensional functional architecture, with new classes to supplement the one-dimensional, bottom-up classes of the CCITT (ITU) Recommendation M.3100. This creates a richer structure for management modelling which no longer constrains possible implementations.
