Criteria and Functions for Expert Information Representation Choice

Czesław Daniłowicz, Ngoc Thanh Nguyên · Advances in intelligent and soft computing · 2001

By expert information we mean the information given by a man-expert of a field of science and technology, or by some intelligent program (for example intelligent agents) in solving of some task. In this paper the problem of expert information representation choice is introduced and analyzed. The analysis was carried out on two levels of generality. On the first level, it was assumed that in the collection of possible solutions, a function expressing the distance between its elements is defined. Then, the conditions for the choice function which settles the representation of expert information, were established. It was pointed out that the best choice function is the one, that qualifies to the representation the objects with the lowest sum of the square distances from the objects representing expert information. On the second level, it was assumed that the structure of the object set is known. Six structures which describe expert information in the representation choice problem, are considered and analyzed. For these structures the computation complexity of choice problems is also investigated.
