This was produced from a copy o f a docum ent sent to us fo r m icrofilming. While the m ost advanced technological means to photograph and reproduce this docum ent have been used, th e quality is heavily dependent upon th e quality o f th e m aterial subm itted. The following explanation o f techniques is provided to help you understand markings o r notations which m ay appear on this reproduction.1.The sign or " ta rg e t" fo r pages apparently lacking from the docum ent photographed is "Missing Page(s)" .If it was possible to obtain th e missing page(s) or section, they are spliced into the film along with adjacent pages. This may have necessitated cutting through an image and duplicating adjacent pages to assure you of com plete continuity.2. When an image on th e film is obliterated with a round black m ark it is an indication th a t the film inspector noticed either blurred copy because of m ovem ent during exposure, or duplicate copy.Unless we m eant to delete copyrighted materials th a t should n o t have been film ed, you will find a good image o f the page in th e adjacent fram e.If copyrighted m aterials were deleted you will find a target n ote listing th e pages in th e adjacent fram e.3. When a m ap, drawing or chart, etc., is part o f the material being p hoto graphed the photographer has follow ed a definite m ethod in "sectioning" th e m aterial. It is custom ary to begin film ing a t th e upper left hand corner of a large sheet and to continue from left to right in equal sections w ith small overlaps. If necessary, sectioning is continued again-beginning below the first row and continuing on until com plete.4. For any illustrations th a t cannot be reproduced satisfactorily by xerography, photographic prints can be purchased a t additional cost and tipped into your xerographic copy.R equests can be m ade to our Dissertations Custom er Services D epartm ent.
