Image sampling by hierarchical annealing
Simon K. Alexander · 2004
Simulated annealing has been applied to a wide variety of problems in image processing. Particularly in scientific applications, the computational complexity of simulated annealing may constrain its effectiveness. High resolution samples or 3D data may result in huge configuration spaces. In this paper a method of hierarchical simulated annealing is introduced to perform sampling of binary porous media images. This approach can lead to large gains in computational cost for suitable models.
