Eigen-matrix pencil method-based velocity estimation for mobile cellular radio systems
M. Turkboylari, Gordon L. Stüber · 2002
A novel velocity estimation algorithm for cellular radio systems is presented. The algorithm assumes that the received signal can be modeled as the sum of finite number of complex exponentials. First the singular value decomposition (SVD) method is applied to the data matrix and a new matrix is formed for the signal space corresponding to the N largest singular values. A matrix pencil is formed from the eigenvectors of this new matrix. The complex exponents of the in-coming waves are obtained from the generalized eigenvalues of this matrix pencil. The algorithm obtains the velocity information from the maximum of the absolute values of the complex exponents/frequencies.
