Towards a keyboard-to-speech system
P.G. Menting · TU/e Research Portal · 1984
The design of a portable keyboard-to-speech system is described. In the system, speech is generated by converting a pseudo - phonetic string into a diphone string. The speech data corresponding to the diphones are then concatenated and sent to a synthesizer. A pitch contour is also generated on the basis of the desired pitch accents indicated in the input string. The system is designed to be implemented in a microcomputer but, at the present stage, it exists only as a simulation on a VAX 11/780 computer.
