Packet services in ISDN

The worldwide growth of dedicated Packet Data Networks underlines the beneftsts of packet switching principles for a number of applications. In the short time frame from 1988 through 1992 CCITT, other standardization organisations have issued the X.31 standard, will release the Additional Packet Made Bearer Service (APMBS), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM, the Switched Multi-Megabit Data Service (SMDS). The characteristics of these different packet switching approaches with their benefits, disadvantages are explained.
