Design and synthesis of the audio equalizers

This paper designs and synthesizes audio equalizers for multimedia applications. In order to prevent the equalizers from boosting undesired frequency components, the peaks of the inverse model of room transfer function are clipped. Different techniques are then used to synthesize the equalizer from the clipped amplitude response. A howling margin is employed to evaluate the equalizer's performance and to determine the optimum threshold for clipping. Real-time experiments using the SHARC processor show increased howling onset level and reduced reverberation.
