Robust image transmission using oversampled filterbanks

It is well known that the redundancy in oversampled filterbanks can be used for obtaining efficient coding schemes. In this paper, we emphasize the fact that they can also be used for resisting transmission errors. Here, a robust image coding system is established based on an oversampled filterbank. Then, some techniques are derived for detecting and correcting the impulse noise resulting from transmission errors. Finally, the full scheme is described, and its performances are evaluated by simulation on a binary symmetric channel. 1.
