Self‐Adaptation for Performance Optimisation in an Agent‐Based Information System

C. Gerber · 2001

Chapter ten describes a simulation platform for use with the MoTiV-PTA system, which has been initiated to develop a unified distributed telematics system for planning and supporting individual intermodal travel. To introduce such a system to the market, its performance in terms of long term and large scale use has to be estimated. Furthermore, the specification of such a system leaves enough room for parameter adjustment in order to optimise the overall performance. The agent-based simulation engine is developed and shown to allow sufficiently realistic simulations to be run. Finally, an optimisation scheme is integrated into the scenario.
