THE VOLCANO COMMUNICATION CONCEPT

Antal Rajnák, Mats Ramnefors · 2002

This paper argues that the Volcano concept and tool chain is best equipped to handle increased complexity in electrical development in vehicles. The authors describe Vocano's integrated chain of software and high-level tools, such as abstraction and modularization, which provide capture, model-based design, automatic code generation and system level validation. Volcano is used today in more than 800,000 Volvo cars on the P2 platform. Volcano reduced unit cost and shortens time by using a design to correctness capability in its complex distributed architecture.
