The architecture and performance of a DECT-PCS implementation
P.H.G. van de Berg, Frank Brouwer · 2002
Personal communications services (PCS) are very closely related to wireless access, as the service needs to be independent of the physical location. DECT, the digital cordless access technology standardized by ETSI, aims to provide wireless access for BCS in several application areas. DECT can offer a high service quality in a wide variety of scenarios, due to its characteristics such as top quality speech, flexibility, high traffic density, security and mobility. Now that real commercial DECT multi-cell systems are available, it is possible to build DECT-PCS implementations. One of the potential DECT-PCS implementations is based on mobility in the public switch. The paper discusses the architecture and performance characteristics of this DECT-PCS implementation.>
