Visual learning is the use of graphics, images and animation to enable and enhance learning. Given the research already done in the field of visual learning, the evidence suggests that superimposing text onto code could promote better understanding of the concepts of computer programming and the logic behind the code in introductory computer science courses. These tools are in addition to the usual visual tools such as color, font type, font size etc.
