Improved Presentation of Search Results on a Map

The purpose of this thesis is to build knowledge about geographically based content services and to investigate how improvements of presentation of search results on maps can be done. The main problem is how to present a lot of data on a map in a, for the user, readable and tangible way. A concept of a mobile application dealing with the problem is developed, tested on potential end-users by using paper prototypes and then implemented for Android mobile phones. The resulting application is tested on a couple of new users and results from tests are used to improve the concept and application. Throughout this thesis a user centered approach is adopted.
