A Password Privacy Preservation and Resetting Scheme for Account Management in Cloud Computing

Vincent Shi-Ming Huang, Jason Chih-Yuan Wang · 2011

People are building Cloud Computing and trying to work with Cloud Computing now. Many applications, platforms, and infrastructures for Cloud Computing are proposed by many service providers. In this paper, we focus on the cloud computing service as AWS EC2 which supports services of storage, hardware, and networking in a virtual machine. A user can create a virtual machine and log into the virtual machine to use the cloud computing resource. The user then runs his applications and services on the cloud. However, if the service provider does not provide account management for each virtual machine and the user forgets the password which is used to log into his virtual machine, he will lose the control to his virtual ma- chine. We proposed a scheme for the user to reset a virtual machine password without being managed by the service provider. The user can simultaneously preserve the password privacy and reset the password when necessary.
