Addressing fear of heights through virtual reality
Chia‐Li Chang, Benjamin Insler · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2004
Virtual reality is an area of computer science that provides a method for implementing three-dimensional, immersive, interactive worlds that can allow humans to experience situations that may be unlikely or impossible in the real world. The following research will examine the capabilities of virtual reality to fully immerse individuals within an artificial, three-dimensional environment. Individuals with a varying fear of heights will be immersed within an interactive three-dimensional environment. Furthermore, we will explore the effectiveness of the capability of virtual reality to treat psychological phobias, specifically acrophobia.
