Anisotropic Volume Mesh Generation Controlled by Adaptive Metric Space

Barbara Głut, Tomasz Jurczyk, Jacek Kitowski · AIP conference proceedings · 2007

This article describes automated procedure of construction of unstructured volume meshes. The meshes are constructed using a modified algorithm of Delaunay incremental insertion working in Riemannian metric space. During the meshing process the metric describes the desired size, shape and direction of elements in the domain being discretized, which allows creating graded and anisotropic meshes. The metric is stored in a discrete form, in a specially designed structure called control space. The form of the control space directly influences the quality of the created mesh, as well as the efficiency of the actual meshing process.
