Logarithmic decrement evaluation of damped oscillations by integral signal processing

Y. Bulbik · AIP conference proceedings · 2001

A Logarithmic decrement evaluation of damped oscillations based on an integral signal processing is presented. This signal processing provides a noise-cancelling effect and can be used in a wide-range logarithmic decrement evaluation. The algorithm envisages a formation of two integral amounts. The first of them is defined by the transient oscillation subjected to biphase rectifying and analog integration, while the second amount is defined by the same oscillation subjected to analog integration only. The appropriate calculating algorithm is also considered. As it is shown the algorithm based on three integral amounts formation allows to extend its NDE application considerably.
