How to Establish a Successful SLDS

Statewide longitudinal data systems (SLDSs) offer many benefits to states and are becoming increasingly popular. In Chapter 1, we define what sets SLDSs apart from traditional and smaller data systems and outline the benefits to our educational system, classrooms and students. We also outline what it takes to facilitate a successful SLDS: strong data sharing processes, adequate technology and strong leadership.
