Using intelligent agent technology in a simulation system to enhance experiential learning in operations management

Tunyawat Somjaitaweeporn, Doug Love · 2005

Abstract —Intelligent agent technology has been employed into a number of learning applications to substitute for human entity required by the learning. In this paper, the concept of using this technology to enhance the experiential learning in operations management is purposed. The paper includes the key concepts of experiential learning and the roles of intelligent agent technology in education altogether with the background information of our intelligent agents in the learning-based enterprise simulation that we have been working on. The paper also demonstrates the overall performance of the intelligent agents by investigating a test collection of 35 queries and 567 responds using a number of quantitative measurement methods in the information retrieval discipline. The results indicate that it is technically feasible and sufficient for using this technology in simulation to support experiential learning in operation management.
