Improved directional algorithm of the non-linear anisotropic diffusion equation for images

We present an algorithm to greatly reduce the directionality bias inherent in existing finite difference implementations of the non-linear anisotropic diffusion equation when applied to images. We demonstrate the merits of the algorithm by examining its scale space and noise removal properties.
