Ann Moskol, Léa Bernard, Suzanne Ronayne, Namita Sarawagi, Sara Czyzewicz · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2009

Enrollment of women in Computer Science has been declining over the past decade. This is an issue of grave concern and consequences. This all female panel from Rhode Island College, which consists of two faculty members, two current students, and one alumna, will present different perspectives on the challenges that women face in computer science. The panelists will share their personal experiences from the past, their observations of women who are currently in computer science, and possible ways to improve the future of women in this field. Some of the topics addressed will be: why so few women are currently choosing CS as a major; what types of CS jobs may be more interesting to women, and possible strategies to increase female enrollment in the major.
