On this paper, we propose a hierarchical routing mechanism for wireless mesh network (WMN). This mechanism can take full advantage of the architecture and can satisfy many constraints of a routing protocol in the WMN. We consider the WMN with only two layers, separated by physical connections. Wireless Mesh Clients (WMCs) are grouped into clusters with Wireless Mesh Router (WMR) as cluster-head. Further more, connections between clusters through WMCs are always taken into account in route selection. Mainly, advantages of this scheme are that it solves scalability problems, removes the bottleneck at cluster-head and also, it allows a node to chose its own optimal path regardless whenever the path is a backbone or at lower tiers. Thus, this mechanism can offer power efficiency and delay reduction. In this research, we also show that, the overhead of this routing protocol only depends on size of WMC clusters and number of WMR.
