Abstract In July 1998, Johnnie Wise, Jack Abbott Grebe, Jr., and Oliver Dean Emigh, all members of the separatist militia The Republic of Texas, were arrested in Wise's home in Olmito, Texas and charged with conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction. The Republic of Texas believes that Texas was not properly annexed in 1845 and is therefore not a part of the United States. The trio belongs to a splinter faction and the Republic of Texas issued a statement denouncing any connection to the trio.
