Design of a non-coherent receiver for PRCPM signals using Viterbi algorithm
M.N. Ali Abu-Rgheff, K.F. Muallem · 2003
The authors describe the design, implementation, and testing of a practical receiver for partial response continuous phase modulation signals where the detection process is the maximum-likelihood sequence estimation implemented by the Viterbi algorithm and carried out partly through microprocessor software. The probability-of-error performance of the receiver was shown to be approximately the same as that of the corresponding, more complex coherent type. A marked performance improvement was obtained with this receiver compared with other noncoherent receivers that do not use the Viterbi algorithm.>
