Robots in the classroom ... and the dorm room

Jennifer S. Kay · 2010

The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, to argue that despite some disappointing results in using robots in the computer science classroom in the past, we should not yet conclude that robots do not belong there. Second, to present the results of a small pilot study comparing two approaches to teaching an introductory computer science class – one traditional and one which used robots. While the study is not sufficiently controlled to be considered proof of success, initial results are compelling and support the need for further investigation. 1.
