Edge Detection in Image Processing

This chapter introduces various edge detection methods in the image processing literature, including edge detectors based on estimation of the first- or second-order derivatives of the image intensity function, optimal edge detector based on Canny's three criteria, edge detector based on multilevel pixels, edge detector by cost minimization, and some post-processing methods for linking detected edges.
