VOICE MODIFICATION AND CONVERSION USING PLAR-PARAMETERS
Samuel Corveleyn, Bertoud Coose, Werner Verhelst · 2002
Voice modification is the ability to change the perceived speaker identity of a recorded utterance, in order to make it sound like another person. Voice conversion goes even further: here the goal is to imitate a specific target speaker. In this paper we focus on a segmental, acoustic approach of the problem and restrict ourselves to the transformation of spectral feature parameters, since the sound-source is only of minor importance for speaker identity. Many techniques have already been explored in both the modification and the conversion research area. For the modification problem, we examined and summarized some techniques based on the transformation of the PLAR parameters and we conceived the idea of extrapolating this technique to voice conversion. This way, we come to a new approach for transforming the spectral feature parameters.
