Speech Quality Assessment

This chapter aims to present a survey of current speech coding evaluation practice. It begins with an overview of speech quality, its scope and measuring conditions. Early objective measures are described next, followed by some standard subjective test procedures. Recent developments in objective measures are discussed in the last section, with some description on standardization efforts.
