Multisource Stream Aggregation in the Cloud
Marat Zhanikeev · 2014
This chapter deals with a fundamental streaming method called multisource streaming in the cloud. It explains a method for cloud-based substream multisource aggregation and the related optimization problem. Models and simulation analysis of the multisource method versus traditional methods are discussed. The chapter focuses on a realistic technology that can make multisource streaming work in cloud environments, specifically the new role of a service provider that can make it work in practice. The three fundamental models considered here are traditional, P2P, and cloud. With respect to the cloud, the chapter deals with two roles-the currently nonexistent role of service provider (SP) and the currently available role of cloud provider. VM optimization as part of a streaming service is feasible in practice, even at the scale of global networks, which is the area of federated clouds.
