On the accuracy of jitter separation from bit error rate function

We have conducted systematic simulations and experiments on the accuracy of jitter separation based on bit error rate (BER) function. We have found that such a method utilizing the "double delta" function is inaccurate and the error in estimating deterministic and random jitter can be as high as 50%.
