A New Method for Testing Stationary Batteries Capacity in Telecommunications Systems

Masahiro Ichimura, Ryō Tanaka, Tsutomu Ogata · International Telecommunications Energy Conference · 1983

To reduce manpower required and electrical energy consumption during capacity tests on stationary batteries for telecommunications systems, a new capacity testing technique has been developed. The test consists of two steps: a short time discharge to determine the minimum capacity cell in assembled batteries and a measurement of the cell's capacity by using an automatic capacity tester. The new method and the conventional one were used in field and the results were compared with each other. As a result, large decrease in manpower required, electrical energy consumption, size and weight of capacity test equipment and measurement error was realized by using the new method.
