Security breaks a sweat

A robust image processing method that detects fingertip ‘liveness’ through its active sweat pores has been developed by researchers at Brunel University in the UK. Their technique could greatly improve the security of fingerprint identification systems which are currently susceptible to forgery by artificial fingertips.
