Database Systems for Acceptance Sampling

Hans‐J. Lenz · Wiley StatsRef: Statistics Reference Online · 2014

Abstract Data collected in on‐line or off‐line quality control are no longer read into files owned by single departments but are stored in a database system. The data can be accessed according to the user's view (profile) and his read/write rights. The use of such operative data is called on‐line transaction processing (OLTP). It is of interest to low ranked officers responsible for administrative tasks and concerned with workflows like incoming batch inspection. Middle managers need data for planning and decisions, i.e., for “on‐line analytical processing” (OLAP), where grouped and aggregated data are mandatory. Such databases are called data warehouses and the managers' views are known as data marts . The main design ideas of such systems are presented.
