Modeling a Multiple Choice Mathematics Test with the Rasch Model

The purpose of the present study is to demonstrate adequacy of Rasch Model in modeling two important parameters in educational measurement, namely, students’ ability and items’ difficulty. 307 students provide response in a 40-item multiple choice test for the modeling using WINSTEPS 3.63. Results showed that 2 items do not fit the model’s expectation, and thus dropped from further analysis. Statistics as well as positioning on the common scale for both parameters are also discussed.
