Position Control Systems In Bio Applications

Many of the Bio Engineering applica- tions depend upon the position control. Such applications range from simple movement of bio tools like gloves and bottles to complex multi dimensional movements of surgical equipment. All these position control movements can be accomplished with the help of stepper motors. These stepper motors can be controlled by microprocessors for flexibility and accuracy. In this article, we will present the operational and design details of an Electro mechanical position control system using the stepper motors. We will also present the control of such stepper motors with the help of a microprocessor such as 68000.
