Abstract : This research effort explored two issues: (1) The comparative study of simple load balancing algorithms for distributed real-time systems which showed that simple policies perform just as well as complex policies in a majority of the cases; (2) The second task was to development of on-line optimization procedures for load balancing algorithms and of task scheduling policies with real-time constraints.
