The Technology of Team Navigation

Edwin L. Hutchins · Psychology Press eBooks · 2014

Experimental Research on Electronic Submission (EXPRES) is a research and development project, funded by NSF, to create architecture, in the form of a prototype of a next generation information technology environment that can support the electronic creation, submission, and review of research proposals. Collaborative work is central to modern science and engineering. In most empirical sciences, research is conducted by teams of investigators rather than by solitary individuals. The frontiers of science and technology usually consist of problems that are best attacked by interdisciplinary teams. The UM EXPRES graphics editor functions in a manner similar to the popular MacDraw program. PostScript is the de facto standard for so-called page description languages. It is a language for representing the special information necessary for producing formatted output on a device like a printer. A primitive form of multimedia document exchange is possible through the interchange of PostScript page descriptions.
