Finite Word‐Length Effects in Digital Signal Processors

Hussein Baher · 2012

Chapter 8 deals with the effects of using binary words with finite lengths in representing the various quantities in digital signal processors. These include input quantization, round-off accumulation, coefficient quantization, overflow oscillations and the dead-band effect. The degradation caused by these effects is examined and the resulting errors are assessed quantitatively.
