Temporal object-oriented data models can be used to specify the behavioral aspects of information systems. Temporal properties play an essential role in many real world applications, such as cooperative work and industrial production systems, and therefore a recent trend in data modeling is the representation of temporal aspects in database schemas and the support of the corresponding data manipulation facilities directly by a database management system (DBMS). However, the use of a powerful temporal data model does not require a specific database management system that supports it to implement an application. Existing commercial DBMSs can be used for this purpose as long as a proper mapping from the temporal data model to the data model underlying the adopted DBMS is provided. In this paper, we present an objectoriented temporal data model, called TF-ORM Temporal Functionality in Objects with Roles Model, and discuss the implementation of TFORM schemas in three distinct DBMSs: O2, Postgres and Ingres.
