Frequency Response Measuring Equipment

Sneha Sharma · IETE Journal of Education · 1982

Swept frequency generators are finding ever increasing application in the field of frequency response measurement of a wide band active or passive network. In this article, the principle involved in employing a swept frequency generator and an oscilloscope for displaying the frequency response is described. The problem related to the display of response of a narrow band circuit is discussed. The sweep-generator basic requirements are explained and the effects of the characteristic of device under test (DUT) on these basic requirements are analysed. Advantages inherent in the swept method are indicated. In addition to this, different methods of sweep generation and its calibration are also discussed.
