Tense Interpretation in the Context of Narrative

Abstract Tense interpretation plays an important role in determining the temporal ordering between the states and events mentioned in a narrative. Following Mourelatos (1978), we generally call states and events ‘‘situations.’’ Determining temporal ordering is useful for many research problems of artificial intelligence.
