In the last few years, there has been a dramatic increase in the adoption rate of smartphones in the world and many experts predict that, by the end of this year, Google's Android will become the dominant operating system for these devices. It is not surprising, therefore, that Android phones are a popular target for malicious hackers. These hackers often make use of rootkits to achieve their goal and this paper provides a thorough analysis of rootkit attacks on Android-based smartphones.
