Semantics in Machine Translation

Abstract. In this paper we introduce Machine Translation methods, their main paradigms and architectures. The importance of semantic information in MT systems is shown and the problem of ambiguity is discussed. We look at the previous MT systems of our interest and the usage of semantics in them. The notion of semantic features and their application in the systems is therefore presented. 1
