On-line noise analysis and reactor plant operation

A description is given of the operation of an on-line, real-time data acquisit ion computer developed by the School of Nuclear Engineering, University of New South Wales which is being interfaced with the Australian Atomic Energy Commission's HIFAR reactor in order to record, analyse, identify and ultimately to control such fluctuations and vibrations due to reactor plant noise sources. These investigations although carried out on HIFAR using both the SNEDAC and ISAC systems are being conducted in such a way as to make the experimental techniques and theoretical models developed relevant to any power situation.
