THE $ u_{1}$ BAND OF TRANS-$HNO_{2}$

Terry Todd · The Knowledge Bank (The Ohio State University) · 1978

The infrared spectrum of the $\ u_{1}$ band of trans-Nitrous Acid has been recorded with a high resolution spectrometer. A simultaneous deconvolution and smoothing program were used to enhance the spectral resolution from approximately $0.032\\, cm^{-1}$ to $0.013\\, cm^{-1}$. The analysis of this OH stretching band indicates that it has an A-type structure. The resulting preliminary constants (in. $cm^{-1}$) are: \\begin{eqnarray*} \ u &=& 3590.771 \\quad (1)\\\\ \\Delta A &=& 0.01 \\; 420 \\quad (4)\\\\ \\Delta B &=& 0.000 \\; 073 \\quad (6)\\\\ \\Delta C &=& 0.000 \\; 235 \\quad(5) \\end{eqnarray*}
